Pere Faura concluded his training in Amsterdam as choreographer with his successful solo this is a picture of a person I don’t know, which won the ITS Festival Choreography Award and the Dansclick Prize, a 27 performance tour of the Netherlands. The production was subsequently presented in various international venues all over Europe.

Faura then went on to become resident choreographer of the Frascati theatre, where he developed his other works, allowing his fascination for pop culture and collective memory (in musicals, striptease, disco-dancing or pop concerts) free rein and providing him with the choreographic tools to enrich and facilitate an intense and common, theatrical experience.

Pere Faura understands dance as the choreography of all the elements of the theatrical, his work is clearly multidisciplinary and the conflict between loneliness and togetherness, private and public, reality and fiction, is dealt with in a humorous, but poetical way.

In July 2009, the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds trust (NL) presented him with the Charlotte Köhler award, in recognition of his achievements as a young choreographer.

International:

Pere Faura’s work has been shown in most European countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, UK, Greece and Romania) as well as outside of Europe, such as in Bolivia and China.

He was commissioned to make new pieces by the National Theatre of Catalunya in Barcelona, and the Kalamata Dance Festival in Greece. His works are often co-produced in Spain, recently by the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid.
