Introdans dances as never before. Since 1971 Introdans has grown into a top dance company. With a healthy dose of ambition, the company remains true to its mission to present high quality dance to a broad public. Since 2009 Introdans has been designated part of the basic national infrastructure of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. With the Canon of Introdans™, the two dance ensembles present a varied and attractive modern ballet repertoire. As the city of Arnhem’s flagship company, Introdans performs in theatres throughout the Netherlands and travels the world: both ensembles are frequent guests on international stages. H.R.H. Princess Margriet of the Netherlands is the Patroness of Introdans.
Introdans presents modern ballet performances on the themes Old masters, Contemporary partners, New talent. Various choreographers create ballets for Introdans which combine classical elements and modern techniques.
Introdans Ensemble for Youth presents its repertoire selected from the Introdans Treasure Chest™, including work especially created for the ensemble. Introdans Ensemble for Youth occupies a unique position in Europe, being the only dance company in the continent to present modern ballet performances for children.
Introdans Interaction works in schools and in many other environments, serving both young and old. The department provides a broad range of educational activities, day projects, interactive workshops and opportunities to look behind the scenes – all linked to the themes contained in the repertoire of both ensembles. Introdans Interaction also organises inspirational days for teachers and in-depth sessions for o.a. elderly persons.
Internationalization is one of the key points in the Introdans policy. Introdans has a growing amount of performances on international stages and festivals. The company is regularly invited to accompany the Royal House on state visits.
Introdans is one of the most important ambassadors of the Dutch dance abroad. Both ensembles present performances all over the world. Introdans can be seen in Belgian and German theatres with great regularity and visited the International Festival of Music and Dance in Bangkok, Thailand and various venues in South Africa several times. The performance of Introdans in 2006 during the state visit of Her Royal Highness Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands in Buenos Aires, Argentina is one of the highlights. Other highlights are the repeated invitations for Introdans Ensemble for Youth to perform at the Bank of Scotland International Children's Theatre Festival in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, the STEPS Festival in Switzerland and at The New Victory Theater on Broadway, New York. Introdans Interaction provides workshops, join-in-classes and master classes parallel to the performances of both ensembles. In addition, this specialized department organizes conferences of their own and by invitation. Introdans Interaction is an international example when it comes to dance expertise.
